DESCRIPTION:A Premier Country Pop Act\nThe Hall Sisters over the last few years have established themselves as one of the premier acts in the country pop genre. With multiple CD releases and new material in the works\, the ensemble has also maintained a robust touring schedule. They have performed on notable stages such as The Grand Ole Opry\, Carnegie Hall\, and Dollywood. In 2022\, they delighted audiences at the Stanly County Concert Association. DESCRIPTION:Stanly County has a rich history of prominent musicians. Many of these musicians taught and served in local churches and schools. Through their work\, others learned to make joyful sounds and cultivated a love of music. \nThis first in a series of “Prominent Musicians” programs will honor individuals in Albemarle: Margie Mauney\, Katherine Almond\, Mary Hearne\, Paul Frye\, Tommy Hauss\, Joann Morton\, Annyce Worsham and Marie Jones. \nThe Stanly County Historical Society’s program will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at First Presbyterian Church\, 126 W. North St.\, in Albemarle. Michael Rowland\, organist at First Presbyterian Church\, will provide organ music during the presentations. The program is free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Tropical Music Band\nLatin Swing Entertainment\, established in Raleigh\, North Carolina in January 2019\, is a vibrant tropical music band that specializes in a wide range of Latin genres including Salsa\, Merengue\, Cumbia\, and Bachata. The band was founded by trumpet player and musical director Sandry E Romero Miller\, who embarked on his musical journey in 1998 at the Music Conservatory “Jose Luis Paz” in Maracaibo\, Venezuela. DESCRIPTION:Award-Winning Jazz Duo: Sounds of A&R\nAwarded and named “Best Jazz Group” at the 2019 New York City Reader’s Jazz Awards\, the husband and wife duo known as Sounds of A&R\, or S.O.A.R. It is the brainchild of vocalist April May Webb and trumpeter and multi-instrumental professional Randall Haywood. In 2022\, S.O.A.R. was one of ten ensembles selected to represent the United States as U.S. Cultural Ambassadors as part of the American Music Abroad 2022 & 2023 international touring season. The Stanly County Historical Society is thrilled to announce Swinging in the Streets\, a special event featuring the vibrant sounds of The Salisbury Swing Band. Mark your calendars for Saturday\, May 17th\, as the music fills the air at the charming Historic 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House in Downtown Albemarle. Swing dance lessons begin at 6:30 pm and the band takes the stage at 7:00 pm. \nStep back in time as the historic grounds of the Snuggs House\, located at 112 N. Third St\, transforms into an open-air dance floor. The Salisbury Swing Band\, renowned for their lively renditions of classic swing era hits\, is sure to get everyone moving. From the infectious rhythms of Benny Goodman to the smooth melodies of Glenn Miller\, their repertoire promises a delightful journey through the golden age of swing. \nThis event offers a unique opportunity to experience the rich history of Stanly County in a fun and engaging way. The 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House\, a beautiful example of mid-19th century architecture\, provides a picturesque backdrop for an evening of music and community spirit. Imagine twirling under the stars with the sounds of brass and woodwinds creating a magical atmosphere. DESCRIPTION:The Stanly County Historical Society is concluding their seasonal lawn concert series with well known local musician Brent Bowers & Friends on Saturday\, October 11 at 7:00 PM on the lawn of the Historic 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House in Downtown Albemarle.\nSet against the backdrop of one of Stanly County’s most cherished landmarks\, this free family friendly outdoor concert will showcase his latest reinvented band\, The Great Octopus Band and their musical stylings have been described as ” Indie-Folk-Pop” featuring acoustic guitar.\nAttendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or warm blankets and relax under the stars while enjoying the unique atmosphere of Downtown Albemarle. The 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House is located in the Downtown Social District and beverages served in a social district cup are welcome onsite.

A nonprofit organization\, the band is dedicated to preserving the big band tradition while giving back—members volunteer their time\, and net proceeds from performances support local charities. DESCRIPTION:A FREE event open to the public to learn more about the arts in Stanly County. \nStudent Art Show:  Come view the county-wide student art show\, showcasing the best from each elementary\, middle\, and high school in Stanly County plus work from the advertising\, graphic design\, and simulation and game animation students from Stanly Community College. DESCRIPTION:The Stanly County Concert Association is proud to invite the community to celebrate America and our Army’s 250th birthday with the 82nd  Airborne Division Band and Chorus\, as they present “This We’ll Defend: The All American Story\,” a musical tribute to our nation. Since the Revolutionary War\, “This We’ll Defend” has remained the motto of the United States Army. It speaks to the resolve of those who serve\, from the Greatest Generation\, to today's Soldiers stationed all around the world. Celebrate this great nation and those who are sworn to protect it\, as we honor military service—past\, present\, and future—through music and storytelling by the All American Band and Chorus. \nSince this unit’s founding in 1942\, these active-duty Paratroopers continue to connect America to its Army by telling the Army Story and honoring Soldiers and Veterans as the Musical Ambassadors of the 82nd Airborne Division. \nBefore the concert begins at 4:00 p.m.\, small ensembles will be performing in the lobby to welcome guests. These preconcert performances will continue until 3:40 p.m.\, when the auditorium doors open for seating. \nThis promises to be an exciting and inspirational musical celebration for all! \nTickets are required\, but they are free for everyone. You may pick them up at Starnes Jewelers or the Stanly County AgriCivic Center\, and they will also be available at the door on the day of the event. Members of the Stanly County Concert Association may use their season tickets for admission. The band \, with the Stanly County Chorale\, will premier “An American Tapestry”\, which was the commissioned by the band and the chorale in honor of the 250th birthday of the United States. North Carolina Composer Bruce Tippette will be guest conductor. This was supported by the America 250 NC Stanly County committee. \n  \n \n \n  \n  \n  \nThis project was supported through a grant from America 250 NC\, a program of the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources \n
