DESCRIPTION:A FREE event open to the public to learn more about the arts in Stanly County. \nStudent Art Show:  Come view the county-wide student art show\, showcasing the best from each elementary\, middle\, and high school in Stanly County plus work from the advertising\, graphic design\, and simulation and game animation students from Stanly Community College. See below for list of participating schools and art teachers. \nArtisans:  a variety of artisans will have booths demonstrating their craft as well as selling their creations.  See below for demonstrating artists. \nInformation Booths:  Each arts organization will have a booth to promote their upcoming events as well as recruit new members or volunteers.  Arts-based businesses will be there selling their goods or available to answer questions about lessons\, etc.  See below for full list of exhibitors. \nLive Performances:  Performances from choirs\, bands\, dance and theatre troupes will entertain audiences throughout the day in the auditorium as well as the lobby.  See poster below for schedule. \nCreation Station:  an opportunity to create your own art to take home with you!  Learn how to marbelize paper\, water color techniques\, create a rain stick\, and more. \nLocal Authors:  Meet local authors and peruse & purchase books they have written.  See below for list of participating authors. \nRaffles:  a chance to support the arts while taking a chance on winning great prizes \nAwards Ceremony:  at 1:45 pm we will announce the 2025 Arts Person and Fine Arts Teacher of the Year!  Don’t miss it! \n \n

When Alice falls for her boss\, Tony\, a handsome scion of Wall Street\, she fears that their two families—so unlike in manner\, politics\, and finances—will never come together. During a disastrous dinner party\, Alice’s worst fears are confirmed. Her prospective in-laws are humiliated in a party game\, fireworks explode in the basement\, and the house is raided by the FBI. Third Street\, Downtown Albemarle for a compelling portrayal of courage\, resilience\, and the enduring pursuit of freedom. \nNationally acclaimed actor and playwright Mike Wiley brings to life the extraordinary true story of Henry “Box” Brown\, an enslaved man who escaped to freedom in 1849 by mailing himself in a wooden crate from Richmond\, Virginia\, to Philadelphia. Through gripping storytelling and dramatic performance\, Wiley immerses the audience in Brown’s harrowing journey—shedding light on the horrors of slavery and the strength of the human spirit.\nThis one-man show is more than just theatre—it’s an opportunity to reflect on our shared history as we approach the 250th anniversary of American independence.\nMike Wiley holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has served as the Lehman Brady Visiting Joint Chair Professor in Documentary Studies and American Studies at both Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill. He was awarded the UNC Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017.\nIn 2020\, Wiley received the Ann Atwater Award from the Manbites Dog Theater Fund\, honoring his commitment to social justice through the arts. His accolades also include the NC Theatre Conference Constance Welsh Award for Theatre for Youth\, and his plays have been featured at arts industry conferences across North America. \nIn addition to his theatrical work\, Wiley is an Assistant Research Professor in the Kenan Institute for Ethics and the Program in Education at Duke University. He also co-directs America’s Hallowed Ground\, a Kenan Institute project that blends historical research with the arts to honor underrecognized sites of racial and historical significance in the U.S. Admission is free\, and all community members are encouraged to attend. SUMMARY:Celebration of the ARTS
DESCRIPTION:A FREE event open to the public to learn more about the arts in Stanly County. \nStudent Art Show:  Come view the county-wide student art show\, showcasing the best from each elementary\, middle\, and high school in Stanly County plus work from the advertising\, graphic design\, and simulation and game animation students from Stanly Community College. A list of participants will be shared shortly. \nArtisans:  a variety of artisans will have booths demonstrating their craft as well as selling their creations.  A list of demonstrating artists will be shared shortly. \nInformation Booths:  Each arts organization will have a booth to promote their upcoming events as well as recruit new members or volunteers.  Arts-based businesses will be there selling their goods or available to answer questions about lessons\, etc.  A full list of exhibitors will be shared shortly. \nLive Performances:  Performances from choirs\, bands\, dance and theatre troupes will entertain audiences throughout the day in the auditorium as well as the lobby.  The schedule will be shared shortly. \nCreation Station:  an opportunity to create your own art to take home with you!  Learn water color techniques\, how to combine colors while creating 3D sculpture with Model Magic clay\,  create a rhythm instrument\, and more. \nLocal Authors:  Meet local authors and peruse & purchase books they have written.   A list of participating authors will be shared shortly. \nRaffles:  a chance to support the arts while taking a chance on winning great prizes \nAwards Ceremony:  at 1:45 pm we will announce the  winners of the America 250 Art Contest\, plus the 2026 Arts Person and Fine Arts Teacher of the Year!  Don’t miss it! \n  \nSpecial thanks to our sponsors: \nUwharrie Bank \nJuneberry Ridge \nCreation Station:  T.R. DESCRIPTION:Sometimes what happens after last call just might change your life. One night in 1981\, just as Jamie is closing the bar where he works\, a desperate last-minute customer offers him and his girlfriend Abby two thousand dollars to sit and have a drink with him. Who wouldn’t take it? As the trio swaps stories and Jamie considers the decisions he faces about his musical career and his future with his girlfriend Abby\, the young couple begins to realize that this older man is unusually invested in their choices… and the reason he gives them is completely unbelievable. But when a very displeased second stranger arrives\, the unbelievable begins to look like it just might be true. Now and Then is a heartfelt romantic comedy about the costs of the choices we make\, and the people who make them with us. \n
