SUMMARY:Children's Theatre of Charlotte presents A Sick Day For Amos McGee
DESCRIPTION:Stanly County Partnership for Children along with the Stanly County Arts Council are excited to partner with the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte to bring A Sick Day For Amos McGee to the Albemarle Neighborhood Theatre. The event is free\, however\, donations are accepted. \nFriendship can be the best medicine when you’re feeling blue.\nFriends come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In this heart-warming story about the joys of friendship\, zookeeper Amos McGee knows friends can come in all sorts of species\, too. Every day\, Amos visits his animal friends at the zoo\, running races with the tortoise\, caring for a particularly shy penguin\, and reading stories to an owl. One day\, Amos is too sick to visit his zoo friends\, but\, fortunately\, the animals know just what to do. \nWRITTEN BY PHILIP C. STEAD AND ILLUSTRATED BY ERIN E. SUMMARY:The Uwharrie Players presents "Down to Earth"
DESCRIPTION:Down to Earth\nBy Bettye Knapp\nDirector – James Cotton\nStage Manager – Cathy Starnes\nAlbemarle Neighborhood Theatre\nApril 21\, 22\, 28\, and 29 at 7:30pm\nApril 23 and 30 at 3:00pm \n\nTwo full-fledged angels descend to earth to pick up two elderly souls. One is a tyrannical and miserly old lady who has amassed a fortune by shrewd and domineering means and who is still looking for a way to take it with her – or she’s not going. SUMMARY:The Diary of Anne Frank
DESCRIPTION:In this transcendently powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman\, Anne Frank emerges from history a living\, lyrical\, intensely gifted young girl\, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty\, wit\, and determination. An impassioned drama about the lives of eight people hiding from the Nazis in a concealed storage attic\, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence—their fear\, their hope\, their laughter\, their grief. Each day of these two dark years\, Anne’s voice shines through: “When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people\, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death!” This is a new adaptation for a new generation. \nJoin us for a talk back following the Thursday\, November 3rd performance featuring Holocaust experts\, the director of the show\, and cast members. The talk back will be moderated by 90.7 WFAE’s David Boraks.

SUMMARY:She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurer Edition
DESCRIPTION:The Talent Company presents “She Kills Monsters” as a dinner theatre at Tiffany’s at the Boardroom in Albemarle. Dinner will start 1 hour before showtime each night. This immersive performance has limited seating so be sure to snag your tickets ASAP! \n“She Kills Monsters” is a play that tells the story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her younger sister\, Tilly. When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook\, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. This high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies\, nasty ogres\, and sweeeeet ’90s music\, offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all. \nMore info at http://thetalentcompany.org/

SUMMARY:Uwharrie Players presents Little House on the Prairie - The Musical
DESCRIPTION:A regional premiere from the Uwharrie Players!  Experience the stage musical of this much-loved book and TV series! \nLittle House on the Prairie\, The Musical is a stage adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s stories and derived inspiration from six Little House books with particular emphasis on the family’s life in De Smet\, South Dakota in By the Shores of Silver Lake\, The Long Winter\, Little Town on the Prairie and These Happy Golden Years. \nThrough the magic of live theatre\, the musical follows the Ingalls family’s journey westward and settlement in De Smet\, South Dakota where Ma and Pa Ingalls hoped to make a better life for their children.  In story\, song\, and dance\, we see the Ingalls suffering the hardships of winter blizzards and prairie fires as well as rejoicing in the settlement of land.  Most of all\, the story follows Laura as she grows from a child who loved to run free into a woman who embraces the responsibilities of her own future while remaining true to herself.
