DESCRIPTION:The Uwharrie Players Announce\nBright Star Audition \nDirected by Lena Olson\nMusic Directed by Joseph Judge\n\n\n\nSYNOPSIS\n​Inspired by a true story and featuring the Tony®-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell\, Broadway’s BRIGHT STAR tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. Set in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina\, this Bluegrass-tinged musical is rooted in Appalachian folk tales and songs. \n1940’s Literary Editor Alice Murphy meets Billy Cane\, a young soldier just home from serving in World War II. As Billy pursues his life-long dream of being an author\, Alice is transported back to the 1920’s & the dreams of her youth\, each following their own BRIGHT STAR.
