SUMMARY:West Stanly Players presents "Cutthroat Christmas" Dinner Theatre performance
DESCRIPTION:The West Stanly Players will be  presenting the interactive murder mystery dinner theatre “Cutthroat Christmas” Dinner theatre performances\, featuring a 3 course meal.  Performances will be held on November 21 & 22 at WSP Theatre at West Stanly High School and December 5 & 6 in the Magnolia Room at Atrium Stanly.\nTickets are $25 each and include dinner and the show. There will be a special preview show on November 20 at WSHS with no dinner for $10 for the general public. The doors open for all performances at 6:15 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm each night.\nTickets must be purchased in advance and seating is limited.  To reserve your table and purchase tickets\, email wes.tucker@stanlycountyschools.org or call  April Tucker\, 704-791-3200.\n  \nIt’s Christmas season once again. A time for gift giving\, celebrations\, company  parties…..and murder! This year the West Stanly Players are combining a Christmas play with their popular interactive murder mystery dinner theatre for another fun evening of food\, fun and murder\, where the audience is not only guests\, but suspects as well. \n“We try to rotate each year between Christmas plays and dinner theatre\, so this year we just decided to combine the two styles into one\,” says long-time WSP director Wes Tucker. “The show is guaranteed to provide the audience with a hilarious and exciting evening of entertainment from start to finish.” \nThe Players are no stranger to interactive dinner theatres\, performing their first over 20 years ago. Over that time\, they have become one of the most requested productions. The format allows audience members to not only enjoy the show and a great meal\, but actually participate in the performance. Some become suspects\, interrogate actors\, participate in onstage activities and ultimately follow the clues and figure out “whodunit” at the end of the night. \nWhen the audience enters they are welcomed as employees to the annual Kringle Company Christmas party. The evening’s entertainment features two Christmas murder mysteries. First\, guests are treated to the appetizer round\, The Knife Before Christmas. This short\, but hilarious mystery allows the audience to practice their detective skills and features many first-time performers. As the entree is being served they are introduced to Nicholas\, the CEO of Kringle the gift-giving app. He is a  jolly man in a red sweater that vaguely resembles another man in red\, as well as  the other characters in the main course\, Cutthroat Christmas. A twisted tale of lies\, deceit\, backstabbing and murder at a company Christmas party. \nA new feature this year is that for the first time the Players will be transforming their theatre at WSHS to a banquet hall for the first weekend of performances and then moving to the Magnolia Room at Atrium Stanly for the second weekend. \n“I have often thought about doing a dinner show in the theatre\, so this year we decided to do something different and perform at home\,” says Tucker. “I am also very excited about bringing our show to the Albemarle at Atrium Stanly for the first time as well.” \nIn addition to the show\, the evening also features an outstanding catered three course meal all served by the WSP. Guests are invited to wear their best ugly Christmas sweater for a contest during the evening and bring canned goods to donate as part of the WSP and National Honor Society food drive.  \n

SUMMARY:West Stanly Players presents Technology for a Murder
DESCRIPTION:The West Stanly Players will produce Technology of a Murder\, an interactive murder mystery dinner theatre on November 19 & 20 at the Oakboro Music Hall beside of Los Jacubes in Oakboro and on December 3 & 4 at Tiffany’s at the Boardroom in Albemarle. Tickets are $25 each and include a 3 course meal and the show. \n“We are very excited to be able to perform our murder-mystery dinner show again this year\,” says WSP director Wes Tucker. “This is a great opportunity for the audience to come have fun\, enjoy a great meal\, and a hilarious evening of entertainment.” \nThe Players presented their first interactive murder-mystery in 2004 and they have become one of the most popular and most requested types of plays the group produces. The format allows audience members to not only enjoy the show\, but to actually participate throughout the performance. Many audience members are considered suspects while others are given opportunities to interrogate the actors. At the end of the night\, some lucky audience member who follows the clues and figures out “whodunit” wins a prize. \n\n\nThe evening features two mysteries. First\, while audience members are enjoying their salad they are welcomed to Café Murder\, the appetizer round. Many first-time performers are featured in this short\, but hilarious mystery about a group of very eccentric sisters celebrating a birthday at the infamous Café Murder. Then\, while the entree is being served\, the audience is treated to the main course featuring many veteran actors\, Technology of a Murder. A twisted tail about shifty seductresses\, crafty conmen\, shameful scientists\, and a host of other shady characters\, where no one is who they seem and everyone is a potential suspect in a multi-layered murder. \n\nIn addition to the show\, the evening also features and outstanding three course meal in both locations. The meal includes salad\, an entrée\, dessert\, and a beverage; all served by the West Stanly Players waitstaff.\n\nTickets for the dinner theatre are $25 per person and include dinner and the show. The doors open at 6:15 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm each night. Tickets must be purchased in advance and seating is limited. To reserve your table\, call April Tucker\, 704-791-3200.

SUMMARY:West Stanly Players present "Daddy's Dyin\, Who's Got the Will?"
DESCRIPTION:Daddy’s Dyin’ takes place in the summer of 1986 in Lowake\, Texas\, and follows the adventures of the Turnover family as they try to settle their dying father’s affairs before he inevitably kicks the bucket. The problem is\, that he has misplaced his will\, and it is up to his four children to find it. Unfortunately\, they are less concerned about the will\, and more with bickering amongst themselves about who wronged whom in the past. All of this leads to a hilarious adventure that reminds us how special and difficult family can be. \nIn addition to the feature presentation\, the WSP will also present short scenes from two other beloved classics from the past\, 1972’s Picnic and 1992’s Steel Magnolias. \nThis year\, in honor the Players 50th anniversary\, they will pay tribute to a past production by presenting the hilarious Texas comedy\, Daddy’s Dyin\, Who’s Got the Will\, originally performed in 1991. Although a live audience will be returning to the WSP theatre for first time since 2019\, it will not be just business as usual. Gov. Cooper’s Executive order 204 allows theatres to reopen at 50% capacity while following Covid-19 guidelines. \n“I am very excited for my students to return to the stage for a live audience and I am also incredibly thankful to Dr. Dennis and the SCS School Board for giving my seniors this opportunity\,” says Wes Tucker\, long-time director of the WSP. “Things may look a little different this year than in the past put the hard-work and professionalism that has been associated with the WSP for 50 years has not changed.” \nOne of the major changes for this show is that all performers and audience members will be wearing masks. In addition\, to help with social distancing\, every other row will be blocked off. This will keep audience members six feet apart as well as reducing the theatre to 50% occupancy. \n“The students have been working diligently using their voices and eyes to overcome the obstacle of performing with masks\,” says Tucker. “The safety of our audience and students is our number one concern.”
