DESCRIPTION:The West Stanly Players will be  presenting the interactive murder mystery dinner theatre “Cutthroat Christmas” Dinner theatre performances\, featuring a 3 course meal.  Performances will be held on November 21 & 22 at WSP Theatre at West Stanly High School and December 5 & 6 in the Magnolia Room at Atrium Stanly.\nTickets are $25 each and include dinner and the show. There will be a special preview show on November 20 at WSHS with no dinner for $10 for the general public. The doors open for all performances at 6:15 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm each night.\nTickets must be purchased in advance and seating is limited.  To reserve your table and purchase tickets\, email wes.tucker@stanlycountyschools.org or call  April Tucker\, 704-791-3200.\n  \nIt’s Christmas season once again. A time for gift giving\, celebrations\, company  parties…..and murder! This year the West Stanly Players are combining a Christmas play with their popular interactive murder mystery dinner theatre for another fun evening of food\, fun and murder\, where the audience is not only guests\, but suspects as well. \n“We try to rotate each year between Christmas plays and dinner theatre\, so this year we just decided to combine the two styles into one\,” says long-time WSP director Wes Tucker. “The show is guaranteed to provide the audience with a hilarious and exciting evening of entertainment from start to finish.” \nThe Players are no stranger to interactive dinner theatres\, performing their first over 20 years ago. Over that time\, they have become one of the most requested productions. The format allows audience members to not only enjoy the show and a great meal\, but actually participate in the performance. Some become suspects\, interrogate actors\, participate in onstage activities and ultimately follow the clues and figure out “whodunit” at the end of the night. \nWhen the audience enters they are welcomed as employees to the annual Kringle Company Christmas party. The evening’s entertainment features two Christmas murder mysteries. First\, guests are treated to the appetizer round\, The Knife Before Christmas. This short\, but hilarious mystery allows the audience to practice their detective skills and features many first-time performers. As the entree is being served they are introduced to Nicholas\, the CEO of Kringle the gift-giving app. He is a  jolly man in a red sweater that vaguely resembles another man in red\, as well as  the other characters in the main course\, Cutthroat Christmas. A twisted tale of lies\, deceit\, backstabbing and murder at a company Christmas party. \nA new feature this year is that for the first time the Players will be transforming their theatre at WSHS to a banquet hall for the first weekend of performances and then moving to the Magnolia Room at Atrium Stanly for the second weekend. \n“I have often thought about doing a dinner show in the theatre\, so this year we decided to do something different and perform at home\,” says Tucker. “I am also very excited about bringing our show to the Albemarle at Atrium Stanly for the first time as well.” \nIn addition to the show\, the evening also features an outstanding catered three course meal all served by the WSP. Guests are invited to wear their best ugly Christmas sweater for a contest during the evening and bring canned goods to donate as part of the WSP and National Honor Society food drive.  \n

Over that time\, they have become one of the most requested productions. The format allows audience members to not only enjoy the show and a great meal\, but actually participate in the performance. Some become suspects\, interrogate actors\, participate in onstage activities and ultimately follow the clues and figure out “whodunit” at the end of the night. \nWhen the audience enters they are welcomed as employees to the annual Kringle Company Christmas party. The evening’s entertainment features two Christmas murder mysteries. First\, guests are treated to the appetizer round\, The Knife Before Christmas. This short\, but hilarious mystery allows the audience to practice their detective skills and features many first-time performers. As the entree is being served they are introduced to Nicholas\, the CEO of Kringle the gift-giving app. He is a  jolly man in a red sweater that vaguely resembles another man in red\, as well as  the other characters in the main course\, Cutthroat Christmas. A twisted tale of lies\, deceit\, backstabbing and murder at a company Christmas party. \nA new feature this year is that for the first time the Players will be transforming their theatre at WSHS to a banquet hall for the first weekend of performances and then moving to the Magnolia Room at Atrium Stanly for the second weekend. \n“I have often thought about doing a dinner show in the theatre\, so this year we decided to do something different and perform at home\,” says Tucker. “I am also very excited about bringing our show to the Albemarle at Atrium Stanly for the first time as well.” \nIn addition to the show\, the evening also features an outstanding catered three course meal all served by the WSP. Guests are invited to wear their best ugly Christmas sweater for a contest during the evening and bring canned goods to donate as part of the WSP and National Honor Society food drive.  \n

DESCRIPTION:Stanly Arts Guild is honored to present an exhibition of selected artwork by Jubal and Kenly Strube of Strube’s Creative Studio. Now available for viewing at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. We hope you are able to spend some time to enjoy their work. \nJubal Strube: \nBorn in Mt. Pleasant\, North Carolina\, Jubal Strube discovered a passion for the arts during middle school: a spark that grew into a lifelong dedication to creativity and expression. This early love for artistic exploration guided Jubal toward formal training in the visual arts\, beginning with an Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in Concord\, NC 2016. \nContinuing to develop both skill and vision\, Jubal Strube earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. To further merge a love of art with a passion for education\, Jubal Strube completed a Teaching Certificate at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2024. \nSince 2023\, Jubal Strube has served as a Visual Arts Teacher at West Stanly High School\, inspiring young artists to explore their creativity and build confidence through artistic practice. Jubal’s work and teaching emphasize the importance of personal expression\, technical growth\, and the transformative power of the arts in everyday life. \nKenly Strube: \nKenly Strube grew up in the rural town of Olivia\, NC. Her passion for creativity and the arts started when she was young and matured as she went through high school. She obtained her BFA in Studio Art at UNC Chapel Hill in 2019. Kenly demonstrates an illustrative style: emphasizing her passion for nature\, video games\, and fantasy through her art and style. Her career path has evolved over time\, ranging from theatre props creator\, to currently the visual arts teacher at South Stanly High School. \nRecently\, Kenly and her husband\, Jubal Strube\, have started a small business together\, Strube’s Creative Studio\, by completing customers creative needs. Services range from custom pet portraits\, film restoration\, murals\, and much more!

The donations kickoff will start October 1st-4th\, and continue to be accepted throughout October. However\, the longer an item is available to bid on\, the more opportunities there will be to raise funds for an amazing cause. Final bidding day (November 8th) will have light refreshments served while bidders have the opportunity to make their final offers. All proceeds will go to Stanly Health Foundation for their Free Mammogram Program.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Stanly County Historical Society for this encore event honoring the memory of Ellen Milton Snuggs. The rooms of the 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House will be decorated as they would have been following Ellen’s untimely passing. Guests will experience Victorian mourning rituals such as draping mirrors and pictures in black\, view a hair wreath and locket with Ellen’s hair on loan from the Stanly County Museum and learn other Victorian mourning superstitions & rituals. Cash donations will be accepted at the door.

DESCRIPTION:Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States\, and the 2nd leading cause of cancer death in women. In short\, it will touch someone you know until there is a cure.\nEach October\, The Stanly Arts Guild donates items for silent auction to raise funds to support local free mammograms. The donations kickoff will start October 1st-4th\, and continue to be accepted throughout October. However\, the longer an item is available to bid on\, the more opportunities there will be to raise funds for an amazing cause. Final bidding day (November 8th) will have light refreshments served while bidders have the opportunity to make their final offers. All proceeds will go to Stanly Health Foundation for their Free Mammogram Program.
