SUMMARY:The Uwharrie Players presents "Four Old Broads"
DESCRIPTION:Retired burlesque queen Beatrice Shelton desperately needs a vacation. A Sassy Seniors Cruise through the Caribbean may be just the ticket if she can just convince her best friend\, Eaddy Mae Clayton\, to stop praying and go with her. Unfortunately\, things have not been very pleasant at Magnolia Place Assisted Living since Nurse Pat Jones began working there. The newest resident\, Imogene Fletcher\, is suddenly losing her memory. Maude Jenkins is obsessed with her favorite soap opera and planning her own funeral. Sam Smith\, retired Elvis impersonator\, keeps trying to bed every woman in the building. A mystery unfolds with laughter as the gals try to outsmart the evil Nurse Pat Jones and figure out why so many residents have been moved to “the dark side.” Hilarity ensues as Imogene goes undercover and Maude enters the Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Pageant to throw Pat off their trail. If they can solve the mystery\, they may make it to the cruise ship after all. \nDon’t miss Four Old Broads\, November 1-3 and 8-10 at the Albemarle Neighborhood Theatre\, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 3pm. DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Tiffany Harwood\nFees: Class fee = $25 + $25 Kit fee = $50 total\nCreate a beautiful barn quilt for yourself or as a gift! You will use exterior grade paint\, so your completed barn quilt can be displayed indoors or outdoors. There will be several patterns to choose from.\nKit includes a piece of prepped 24″ x 24″ wood\, pattern\, paint and brushes.\nStudents will need to supply green painters tape (1 inch is good)\, ruler or yard stick or other type of long\, straight edge\, pencil with eraser and a hair dryer.\nPlease come by the Guild store to sign up and pay for the class.

The band was founded by trumpet player and musical director Sandry E Romero Miller\, who embarked on his musical journey in 1998 at the Music Conservatory “Jose Luis Paz” in Maracaibo\, Venezuela. DESCRIPTION:The family of Martin Vanderhof lives “just around the corner from Columbia University—but don’t go looking for it.” Grandpa\, as Martin is more commonly known\, is the paterfamilias of a large and extended family: His daughter\, Penny\, who fancies herself a romance novelist; her husband\, Paul\, an amateur fireworks expert; their daughter\, Alice\, an attractive and loving girl who is still embarrassed by her family’s eccentricities—which include a xylophone player/leftist leaflet printer\, an untalented ballerina\, a couple on relief\, and a ballet master exiled from Soviet Russia. When Alice falls for her boss\, Tony\, a handsome scion of Wall Street\, she fears that their two families—so unlike in manner\, politics\, and finances—will never come together. During a disastrous dinner party\, Alice’s worst fears are confirmed. Her prospective in-laws are humiliated in a party game\, fireworks explode in the basement\, and the house is raided by the FBI. Frustrated and upset\, Alice intends to run away to the country\, until Grandpa and Co.—playing the role of Cupid—manage not only to bring the happy couple together\, but to set Tony’s father straight about the true priorities in life.
