DESCRIPTION:Across Stanly County the arrival of spring brings an explosion of floral landscapes and the return of outdoor living. To celebrate the beauty and rich history of Albemarle and Stanly County\, The Stanly County Historical Society will host a benefit Courtyard & Garden Tour on April 30th from 10:00 – 4:00. Proceeds from this event will fund educational programs and preservation initiatives of the Stanly County Historical Society\, a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization. \nThis self guided tour will allow access to 10 private and public courtyard and garden spaces stretching from Albemarle to Richfield that will delight and inspire you. The tour features a variety of garden spaces including DIY landscapes\, restored formal gardens and centuries old family farms. \nAdvance $15 wristband tickets will be available at the Stanly County History Center\, 157 N. Second St in Downtown Albemarle beginning March 1\, or by mail order to Stanly County Historical Society\, PO Box 1384\, Albemarle\, NC 28002. Pre-paid mail orders will be held at the will call station at the 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House\, 112 N. Third St\, Downtown Albemarle from 9:30 – 2:00. $20 wristband tickets may be purchased on the day of the tour at the 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House. This event will be held rain or shine and all tickets are non-refundable donations. DESCRIPTION:The Hall Sisters are from North Carolina and have performed in a range of venues\, from the Grand Ole Opry to Carnegie Hall. The sisters started taking lessons together in 2008. Dennis\, one of our most passionate members\, and an avid and talented photographer. This show was especially dear to him and we could think of no better way to remember him than to name the show in his honor. \nThe show runs from April 20th thru May 14th\, 2022. This show is for photography only. Art take-in will be Friday\, April 15th\, from 12-4\, & Saturday\, April 16th\, from 10-2. Monetary prizes will include 1st Place – $300\, 2nd Place – $200\, & 3rd Place – $100. Honorable mention ribbons will be handed out at the judge’s discretion. SUMMARY:West Stanly Players presents Technology for a Murder
DESCRIPTION:The West Stanly Players will produce Technology of a Murder\, an interactive murder mystery dinner theatre on November 19 & 20 at the Oakboro Music Hall beside of Los Jacubes in Oakboro and on December 3 & 4 at Tiffany’s at the Boardroom in Albemarle. Tickets are $25 each and include a 3 course meal and the show. \n“We are very excited to be able to perform our murder-mystery dinner show again this year\,” says WSP director Wes Tucker. “This is a great opportunity for the audience to come have fun\, enjoy a great meal\, and a hilarious evening of entertainment.” \nThe Players presented their first interactive murder-mystery in 2004 and they have become one of the most popular and most requested types of plays the group produces. The format allows audience members to not only enjoy the show\, but to actually participate throughout the performance. Many audience members are considered suspects while others are given opportunities to interrogate the actors. At the end of the night\, some lucky audience member who follows the clues and figures out “whodunit” wins a prize. \n\n\nThe evening features two mysteries. First\, while audience members are enjoying their salad they are welcomed to Café Murder\, the appetizer round. Many first-time performers are featured in this short\, but hilarious mystery about a group of very eccentric sisters celebrating a birthday at the infamous Café Murder. Then\, while the entree is being served\, the audience is treated to the main course featuring many veteran actors\, Technology of a Murder. A twisted tail about shifty seductresses\, crafty conmen\, shameful scientists\, and a host of other shady characters\, where no one is who they seem and everyone is a potential suspect in a multi-layered murder. \n\nIn addition to the show\, the evening also features and outstanding three course meal in both locations. The meal includes salad\, an entrée\, dessert\, and a beverage; all served by the West Stanly Players waitstaff.\n\nTickets for the dinner theatre are $25 per person and include dinner and the show. The doors open at 6:15 pm and the show starts at 7:00 pm each night. Tickets must be purchased in advance and seating is limited. To reserve your table\, call April Tucker\, 704-791-3200.
