SUMMARY:The Uwharrie Players' Bright Star Auditions
DESCRIPTION:The Uwharrie Players Announce\nBright Star Audition \nDirected by Lena Olson\nMusic Directed by Joseph Judge\n\n\n\nSYNOPSIS\nInspired by a true story and featuring the Tony®-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell\, Broadway’s BRIGHT STAR tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. Set in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina\, this Bluegrass-tinged musical is rooted in Appalachian folk tales and songs. \n1940’s Literary Editor Alice Murphy meets Billy Cane\, a young soldier just home from serving in World War II. As Billy pursues his life-long dream of being an author\, Alice is transported back to the 1920’s & the dreams of her youth\, each following their own BRIGHT STAR. As the story of Alice and Billy’s lives simultaneously unfold with beautiful melodies and moving characters\, the rich saga & deep emotions of their theatrical journey serve as a sincere reminder – no matter how dark the world gets\, the sun will shine again. \nAn uplifting theatrical journey that holds you tightly in its grasp\, BRIGHT STAR is as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful. \n\n\n\nAUDITIONS\nMonday\, May 1\, 2023 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm\nTuesday\, May 2\, 2023 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm\nSaturday\, May 6\, 2023 | 10:30am – 12:30pm \nAll auditions\, call-backs and rehearsals will be held at The Uwharrie Players Clubhouse\, 546 East Main St. Albemarle\, NC \nAuditions are drop-in; there are no appointment slots. SUMMARY:Children's Theatre of Charlotte presents A Sick Day For Amos McGee
DESCRIPTION:Stanly County Partnership for Children along with the Stanly County Arts Council are excited to partner with the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte to bring A Sick Day For Amos McGee to the Albemarle Neighborhood Theatre. The event is free\, however\, donations are accepted. \nFriendship can be the best medicine when you’re feeling blue.\nFriends come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. In this heart-warming story about the joys of friendship\, zookeeper Amos McGee knows friends can come in all sorts of species\, too. Every day\, Amos visits his animal friends at the zoo\, running races with the tortoise\, caring for a particularly shy penguin\, and reading stories to an owl. One day\, Amos is too sick to visit his zoo friends\, but\, fortunately\, the animals know just what to do. \nWRITTEN BY PHILIP C. STEAD AND ILLUSTRATED BY ERIN E.
