SUMMARY:Stanly County Concert Association presents The Malpass Brothers
DESCRIPTION:The second concert of the Stanly County Concert Association’s 73rd season is the Malpass Brothers. \n“Retrobilly duo The Malpass Brothers are the closest thing to Nashville’s Golden Age since the passing of Merle Haggard in 2016. In fact\, Haggard took a liking to the Goldsboro siblings and invited them to record at his California ranch. This followed a productive association with Hank Williams Sr.’s former pedal steel player\, Don Helms. With their carefully textured coifs and colorful Nudie-like suits\, the Malpass boys look the music they sing\, from honky-tonk classics to Louvin Brothers standards and old-time gospel.” — Jack Bernhardt\, (Raleigh) News & Observer \nThe retro sounds of Hank Williams\, Merle Haggard\, Ray Price\, Johnny Cash plus many others\, inspired the Malpass Brothers to perform the original country and bluegrass of past generations.  They even present themselves in dress\, boots and hair styles of those “olden” days.  Chris and Taylor began playing and singing at 7 years old\, spending hours listening to their granddad’s record collection.  Calling Goldsboro home\, the guys and their band are now traveling the country to entertain and preserve authentic country sounds.  They have performed with Willie Nelson\, Doyle Lawson\, Marty Stuart and others\, plus at the Grand Ole Opry and Merlefest.  They have recorded numerous albums with “Memory That Bad” climbing to the top CMT Top Ten.  with their own brand of comedy and interaction with audiences\, Chris and Taylor want this music to be around for future generations.  www.the malpassbrothers.com \nThe 2021-2022 season of the Stanly County Concert Association (SCCA) includes six concerts to enjoy\, including The Embers (already performed)\, The Malpass Brothers\, Paul Saik\, Music City Christmas featuring Meagan Taylor and Jason Coleman\, The Entertainers and The Hall Sisters.  For more information and to purchase season tickets\, visit the SCCA website at www. stanlyconcert.com.  Individual tickets may be purchased online\, box office at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center\, Starnes Jewelers\, or at the door the day of the concert.  Student Tickets:  $10; Adult Tickets:  $20.
