DESCRIPTION:The Stanly County History Center and The Stanly County Historical Society will co-host a “Living History Day” with Civil War reenactors\, spinning demos\, jump rope making\, old fashioned children’s games\, and interactive exhibits and tours. This will be at the Snuggs House Museum located at 112 North 3rd Street in Albemarle\, NC. This event will take place on Saturday\, October 2nd from 11 AM to 3 PM. SUMMARY:Second Sunday at the Historic 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House & Freeman-Marks House
DESCRIPTION:The Stanly County Historical Society will host a Historical Walking Tour of Downtown Albemarle. Maps will be available at the Isaiah Snuggs House at 112 N. Third in Downtown Albemarle. Eight historical interpreters will be stationed along the route of the original 6 blocks. Walkers may begin the self-guided tours at their leisure. Reservations are required for a riding tour on The Amaz’N Blaz”N Fire Truck. Reserve your seat by calling 704-986-3777 or pre-register at HistoricStanly.org. Seating is very limited for riding tours at 2:30\, 3:00\, 3:30 and 4:00.

SUMMARY:International Play Music on the Porch Day!
DESCRIPTION:“What if for one day everything stopped…and we all just listened to the music?” This was the thought of the founder\, Brian Mallman in 2013. International Play Music on the Porch Day is always the last Saturday in August and has been observed in over 70 countries and 700 cities worldwide. This year\, Stanly County Historical Society will host 12 hours of continuous music on the porches of our historic houses. Bring a lawn chair and spend an hour or the day. A free 8:00 pm lawn concert by Radio Flyer Bluegrass Band is made possible by a Stanly County Community Foundation Grant. DESCRIPTION:Enjoy an evening lawn concert with A.J. Bennett. A.J. is an accomplished musician and plays mandolin\, guitar\, banjo and fiddle. His concert will run the gamut from from Bach to Charlie Pride\, Ed Sheeran and everything in between. Lawn seating will be limited to 50 guests and guests should reserve space by registering on HistoricStanly.org.
