DESCRIPTION:The Chandleys have performed professionally as a piano duo for over 20 years. Known as “Four Hands\, Two Pianos\, One Heart\,” they arrange all their own music and present a minimum of 24 concerts annually. DESCRIPTION:Stanly Arts Guild is honored to present an exhibition of selected artwork by Jubal and Kenly Strube of Strube’s Creative Studio. Now available for viewing at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. We hope you are able to spend some time to enjoy their work. \nJubal Strube: \nBorn in Mt. Pleasant\, North Carolina\, Jubal Strube discovered a passion for the arts during middle school: a spark that grew into a lifelong dedication to creativity and expression. This early love for artistic exploration guided Jubal toward formal training in the visual arts\, beginning with an Associate in Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in Concord\, NC 2016. \nContinuing to develop both skill and vision\, Jubal Strube earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2019. To further merge a love of art with a passion for education\, Jubal Strube completed a Teaching Certificate at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2024. \nSince 2023\, Jubal Strube has served as a Visual Arts Teacher at West Stanly High School\, inspiring young artists to explore their creativity and build confidence through artistic practice. Jubal’s work and teaching emphasize the importance of personal expression\, technical growth\, and the transformative power of the arts in everyday life. \nKenly Strube: \nKenly Strube grew up in the rural town of Olivia\, NC. Her passion for creativity and the arts started when she was young and matured as she went through high school. She obtained her BFA in Studio Art at UNC Chapel Hill in 2019. Kenly demonstrates an illustrative style: emphasizing her passion for nature\, video games\, and fantasy through her art and style. Her career path has evolved over time\, ranging from theatre props creator\, to currently the visual arts teacher at South Stanly High School. \nRecently\, Kenly and her husband\, Jubal Strube\, have started a small business together\, Strube’s Creative Studio\, by completing customers creative needs. Services range from custom pet portraits\, film restoration\, murals\, and much more!

It is the brainchild of vocalist April May Webb and trumpeter and multi-instrumental professional Randall Haywood. In 2022\, S.O.A.R. was one of ten ensembles selected to represent the United States as U.S. Cultural Ambassadors as part of the American Music Abroad 2022 & 2023 international touring season. DESCRIPTION:Tropical Music Band\nLatin Swing Entertainment\, established in Raleigh\, North Carolina in January 2019\, is a vibrant tropical music band that specializes in a wide range of Latin genres including Salsa\, Merengue\, Cumbia\, and Bachata. The band was founded by trumpet player and musical director Sandry E Romero Miller\, who embarked on his musical journey in 1998 at the Music Conservatory “Jose Luis Paz” in Maracaibo\, Venezuela. With multiple CD releases and new material in the works\, the ensemble has also maintained a robust touring schedule. They have performed on notable stages such as The Grand Ole Opry\, Carnegie Hall\, and Dollywood. In 2022\, they delighted audiences at the Stanly County Concert Association. DESCRIPTION:A FREE event open to the public to learn more about the arts in Stanly County. \nStudent Art Show:  Come view the county-wide student art show\, showcasing the best from each elementary\, middle\, and high school in Stanly County plus work from the advertising\, graphic design\, and simulation and game animation students from Stanly Community College. \nInformation Booths:  Each arts organization will have a booth to promote their upcoming events as well as recruit new members or volunteers.  Arts-based businesses will be there selling their goods or available to answer questions about lessons\, etc. \nLive Performances:  Performances from choirs\, bands\, dance and theatre troupes will entertain audiences throughout the day in the auditorium as well as the lobby. \nCreation Station:  an opportunity to create your own art to take home with you!  Learn how to marbelize paper\, water color techniques\, create a rain stick\, and more. \nArtisans:  a variety of artisans will have booths demonstrating their craft as well as selling their creations. \nRaffles:  a chance to support the arts while taking a chance on winning great prizes \nAwards Ceremony:  at 12 pm we will announce the 2024 Arts Person and Fine Arts Teacher of the Year!  Don’t miss it!

SUMMARY:Stanly County Concert Association presents Paul and Sophia:  2 Pianos\, 4 Hands\, 2 Hearts
DESCRIPTION:Paul Chandley is from the mountains of east Tennessee and western North Carolina. A child prodigy\, he could read music notes before he could read words. Sophia Pavlenko\, born in Siberia and raised in Kiev\, Ukraine\, was also a child prodigy who wrote her first composition at age 5. Consummate solo performers\, they met when the Kiev Symphony and Chorus lost one of its U.S. venues and substituted a performance in the small North Carolina town where Paul was director of the Trinity Music Academy. It was love at first sight. Sophia spoke little English\, Paul spoke no Russian\, but according to Sophia\, “When we met\, we connected on a musical/emotional level.” “Music crosses all cultural boundaries\,” explains Paul\, “and speaks directly to the heart. Playing with Sophia the first time was the most fun I’ve ever had.” \n\n\nVISIT THEIR WEBSITE\n\n\n\n\nAfter a year’s international courtship\, they married and their future as a piano duo was sealed. Paul and Sophia have been delighting audiences for the past 18 years with their own arrangements from Classical Favorites to Ragtime\, along with Sophia’s dynamic original compositions. The sounds that floats from their two pianos have been called “virtuosic\, beautiful\, very approachable\, very listenable.” Their enthusiasm radiates across the footlights to the audience. \nThe couple launched The Paul and Sophia Music Foundation in February 2017\, to support\, educate and nurture a new generation of musicians. \n\nThis is the fourth of five concerts of the 2023-2024 Stanly County Concert Association’s concert season. DESCRIPTION:The Rowan Big Band All Stars is an 18-piece community big band in the tradition of Glenn Miller\, Count Basie\, Duke Ellington and other great early twentieth-century bandleaders\, home-based in Landis\, North Carolina and specializing in Great American Songbook favorites and “big band swing.”  First organized in 2006\, the Band is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving this uniquely American style of music and sharing our appreciation of it with others.  The members of our band volunteer their talents for performances\, and the net proceeds from our musical performances are used to support worthwhile local charities.  Our logo is a “swingin’ square.” \n​ \nThis is the third of five concerts of the 2023-2024 Stanly County Concert Association’s concert season.
