Second Sunday at the Historic 1852 Isaiah Snuggs House & Freeman-Marks House

The Stanly County Historical Society will host house tours of the 2 restored homes listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In observance of Indigenous Peoples Day, our featured program will be Native American Interpreter Matt Steed. Matt will present the history and music of the Cherokee tribe at 2:30, 3:30 & 4:30.

International Play Music on the Porch Day!

“What if for one day everything stopped…and we all just listened to the music?” This was the thought of the founder, Brian Mallman in 2013. International Play Music on the Porch Day is always the last Saturday in August and has been observed in over 70 countries and 700 cities worldwide. This year, Stanly County Historical Society will host 12 hours of continuous music on the porches of our historic houses. Bring a lawn chair and spend an hour or the day. A free 8:00 pm lawn concert by Radio Flyer Bluegrass Band is made possible by a Stanly County Community Foundation Grant....

Pickin’ on the Porch

Enjoy an evening lawn concert with A.J. Bennett. A.J. is an accomplished musician and plays mandolin, guitar, banjo and fiddle. His concert will run the gamut from from Bach to Charlie Pride, Ed Sheeran and everything in between. Lawn seating will be limited to 50 guests and guests should reserve space by registering on HistoricStanly.org. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and wear a face covering as a courtesy to those around you.
